 Prep Enrolment Policy

Education Queensland is introduced a Preparatory Year into Queensland primary schools from 2007. Children will only be accepted into this prep year if they will turn 5 by 30 June of the year in which they start prep. This change has affected the structure of early childhood in the community kindergarten sector. Preschool has been replaced by a Pre-Prep year for children turning 4 by 30 June of the year in which they start pre-prep.

From 2008, kindergarten may still be offered for children once they are 3, but only in instances where all children on the waiting list and turning 4 by 30 June have been placed and vacancies exist.
